Serving West Kelowna to Lake Country, I’ve always had a deep personal connection to seniors. My grandmother’s journey — living in Mount Sinai Hospital for 10 years after a brain tumor removal and post-surgical stroke — left me with a soft spot for frailer seniors. Her confinement to a wheelchair was difficult to witness as a child, and it inspired me to always be present with seniors who often feel overlooked in their community.

With over 20 years of experience in healthcare, it wasn’t until I worked in long-term care during COVID-19 that I truly understood the power of human connection. During that time, so many hearts were broken as families were separated from their loved ones. It was heartbreaking to see the toughest seniors — who had lived through much worse — become diminished by isolation. This experience fuels my commitment to make a difference.

When I moved my family to the Okanagan, I was fortunate to meet a beautiful soul who shared the same vision. After her retirement, I was honoured to continue her legacy by creating Horizon Elder Care. We are not a home care agency or a big corporation. We are a small, intimate team that deeply knows and cares for our seniors in residential care.
